Groundbreaking, solar powered mission

Fedor Konyukhov is a legend in the world of ocean rowing. Last year we shared details of his record breaking row across the Southern Ocean in Akros - his boat which was very proudly built by Rannoch Adventure. We can now share details of our next custom project in collaboration with him - The NOVA Project.

Rannoch will be responsible for producing the first single-handed manned vessel to cross an ocean using solar energy. As project leader and main contractor for delivering the vessel, we have been tasked with researching, designing and building a solar powered craft that will take Fedor across the Atlantic Ocean using nothing but "clean energy".

The journey is expected to take between 2 and 4 weeks, weather depending. The craft will be approximately 11 meters long and 7 meters wide. Now that's a big boat!

Nova is a one off, custom boat designed by the Rannoch Team in conjunction with our naval architect, Phil Morrison. The construction of the hull started in January after 6 months researching the power resource for the units that will drive the craft some 3,000 NM. Gary, our Electrical Engineer, was totally absorbed in that research!

We can't wait to get our hands on the hull for the fit out. Keep an eye on our News page for future updates on this exciting project.
