Olympians conquer the English Channel in an Explorer

Last week, Rannoch Adventure was delighted to team up with IFit, a US based company who create incredible fitness and adventure workout sessions around the world in the most unique locations. IFit chose the English Channel and the White Cliffs of Dover as one of their iconic destinations and the Rannoch Explorer as the ideal boat for the project.

To undertake this ambitious row, Alex Gregory MBE (two-time Olympic Gold medallist from 2012 & 2016 in the coxless four) teamed up with James Foad (who was part of the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight at the 2012 Olympics in London).

The duo set off in their pairs Explorer from Dover Marina at 4am on Bank Holiday Monday to capture the sunrise at the start of the 18 nautical miles row. During the day, the temperatures soared well into the 30’s – luckily Dover Sea Safaris and the IFit team were on hand in the support vessel to keep them hydrated whilst capturing the adventure on camera for their project.

Both James and Alex were extremely complimentary about the way the boat handled the open water - to find out what they said, please click here.

Here are a few pictures from the day:
