Rannoch donates two Explorers to local rowing club

As part of our Founder, Charlie Pitcher’s vision to encourage more people out onto the water to enjoy our rivers and wonderful coastline, Rannoch Adventure has donated a single and a pairs Explorer rowing boat to the members of his local rowing club where he is President.

Dawn Wood, Safety Officer at the Burnham on Crouch Coastal Rowing Club, met with Charlie and an enthusiastic group of club members to accept the boats. Due to Covid restrictions, the members had been unable to get out on their gig boats so the Explorers (which enable acceptable social distancing) were a great way to get back out on the river after a long few months of inactivity.

After meeting at Burnham Marina, Charlie gave a short briefing and coaching session and then let the rowers run (or row!) wild themselves on the new boats.

He said “I love seeing new people discovering the sport of rowing and getting out enjoying the open waters and seeing our great British coastline. Rowing is my passion and it gives me huge pleasure to share it with others. By donating two of our Rannoch Explorers to my local club, we are opening up the sport to more people. That’s what this is all about.”
