
I’m Mel, I’m from Somerset and I’ll be 61 when we cross the Atlantic. I own a garden building business but fitness, travel and adventure have been a life-long passion. Over the last 30 years I’ve overlanded through Africa on an army truck, hiked though New Zealand, organised 24-hour extreme events for an F1 team and cycled from Vietnam to Cambodia. Having recently battled cancer, I’ve decided to take my adventuring to the next level by rowing the Atlantic which is probably as extreme as it gets for me. But I can’t wait! More importantly, it’s an opportunity to raise money for two charities very close to my heart:

What am I most looking forward to about the expedition: the escape from tech and noise, the rawness of the surroundings and the sense of achievement when we arrive in Antigua.
